TRANSPORTATION IN LONGBOAT KEY

Longboat Key is located just 15 miles from the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) and 5 miles from downtown Sarasota. It’s also a short drive from Tampa International Airport (TPA). To reach Longboat Key by car, take I-75 and use any of the four exits that take you toward Sarasota. Exit 210 (Fruitville) offers the most direct path to Longboat Key. 

Gulf of Mexico Drive is the Key’s major north-south thoroughfare and two bridges will take you out to the island. The Ringling Causeway extends from Longboat Key to Lido Key/St. Armand’s and into downtown Sarasota. The north bridge connects Longboat Key to the Bradenton beaches. 

Once you arrive on the Key, you can easily commute via car or take public transportation, including the Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT), iRide, or Siesta Key Breeze Trolly. Electric bikes and segway tours are also a fun way to explore the area.

Longboat Key is home to several excellent dining options, including the extremely romantic and upscale Euphemia Haye. There are several nice, family-friendly parks on Longboat Key including Ken Thompson Park, Circle Park, and Bird Key Park. Nearby Bayfront Park features a fishing pier, playground, trails, shuffleboard courts, sports fields, and a designated dog park. 

St. Armand’s Circle on nearby St. Armand’s Key is a bustling spot packed with restaurants and shops. The Longboat Key Golf Club is one of the best in the country and offers two excellent golf courses. The Longboat Key Public Tennis Center is also a popular gathering spot for local tennis enthusiasts.
